To help you know what to expect during the most adorable weeks of a kitten’s life, we asked Dr Jim Gibbs to share key happenings and care information through the early stages, from day one to 52 weeks.
1. What nutrients are necessary for newborn kittens and why?
Protein: Protein is a fundamental biological building block. Cats are carnivores, so compared to plant proteins, meat proteins are more suitable for their digestive systems. Our goat milk powder is rich in animal proteins, which are essential for the growth of kittens.
Calcium: Kittens are at a critical stage in the growth and development of bones and teeth. Therefore, kittens have a great demand for calcium. Calcium deficiency is likely to cause developmental malformations, retained milk teeth and other symptoms in kittens. PetNZC has added calcium to ensure the healthy development of the kittens' bones and teeth.
Taurine: Amino acids are essential substances that constitute proteins. Newborn kittens cannot synthesize 22 essential amino acids by themselves. Therefore, they can only take in these amino acids through food. A lack of amino acids can cause serious health problems. Among the amino acids needed by kittens, taurine is particularly important. Lack of taurine can cause developmental delay, digestive diseases, heart disease, and even blindness. PetNZC kitten milk powder is specially formulated with taurine to ensure the healthy growth of kittens.
L-Lysine, DHA, and Folic Acid: Like humans, the development of the kittens' brain, vision, and nervous system is vital to their lifetime. Therefore, if the kittens can absorb sufficient nutrients such as lysine, DHA, or folic acid in the early growth and development period, the kittens' brain, vision and nervous system will be better developed. They will benefit for a lifetime.
Lactoferrin and Vitamin C: The immune system of kittens is not well developed. Especially in the care of newborn kittens, the owner needs to pay great attention to hygiene, so the kittens are less likely to get sick, which will affect their lives. PetNZC specially added lactoferrin and vitamins C, which can effectively improve kittens' immunity.
Iron, Zinc, and Selenium: Iron is essential for the proper functioning of the kitten's body. Zinc can strengthen the immune system of kittens and keep their skin and fur healthy. Selenium is an antioxidant that helps prevent various symptoms caused by oxidation. PetNZC specially added calcium, iron, zinc, selenium and other minerals to ensure the healthy growth of kittens.
Glucose and Fat: Sufficient energy, fats, and fatty acids provide energy for kittens and help kittens maintain healthy skin and fur. PetNZC carefully considered these needs and added enough glucose, fat, and fatty acids to support kittens' survival, growth, and development.
2. What has been neglected in our traditional understandings and most kitten milk replacements?
Many cat foods add plant carbohydrates (for example, grains and legumes) to avoid causing cats' symptoms of lactose intolerance. However, because cats are carnivores, their intestines are not suitable for digesting plant fibre. If cats overeat plant fibre-based carbohydrates, they will not digest them and cause constipation.
3. What are our breakthroughs?
Many cats are lactose intolerant. Compared with milk powder with higher lactose content, goat milk powder has natural A2 protein and smaller fat globule molecules. Goat milk is more nutritious, easier to digest and absorb, and less likely to cause lactose intolerance in cats. Therefore, PetNZC uses goat milk powder. Goat milk is the most natural alternative to cat milk for kittens.
4. How will kittens benefit from our product?
Our goat milk formula is rich in nutrients, easy to digest and absorb, and not easy to cause allergic reactions. In addition to natural goat milk, we also added taurine to ensure the healthy growth of kittens, lactoferrin to improve the kitten's immunity, and L-Lysine, DHA, and Folic Acid to promote the development of the kitten's brain and the entire nervous system.
