Dogs and Cats – Recovery Care

To help you know what to expect during a pet's recovering from surgery and sickness, we asked Dr Jim Gibbs:

1. What nutrients are necessary for pets that are recovering from surgery and sickness, and why?

Pets are weaker after surgery and need adequate nutrition to maintain health and regain fitness.

Protein: Protein is the main biological component. Not only does it provide pets with the energy they need for life, but it is also a necessary ingredient to maintain the growth, renewal and repair of pet organs and tissues. Sufficient protein supply can effectively promote the recovery and healthy development of pets after surgery. PetNZC goat milk powder can provide high-quality animal protein, which is beneficial for pets' recovery from surgery or sickness.

Lactoferrin, Colostrum, and Vitamin C: Pets will be weak after surgery. PetNZC added lactoferrin and colostrum. Lactoferrin is a natural protein found in animal colostrum and has immune-modulating, antibacterial and antiviral properties, which can effectively increase your pet's immunity to achieve a fast and effective post-operative recovery. Colostrum contains precious immunoglobulins and growth factors, which can effectively improve pets' immunity. Both lactoferrin and colostrum are rich in Immunoglobulin G (IgG), a natural and healthy antibody. PetNZC also added vitamin C to help improve the immunity of pets after surgery or recovery from illness.

Collagen: Collagen plays a vital role in the organs and tissues of pets. It is an important component of skin, hair and nails. Supplementing collagen can help pets improve the health of their skin and hair. In addition, it can effectively help wound healing. PetNZC added collagen to pets in the recovery period after surgery to aid wound healing.

Minerals and Energy: Like people, pets may become weak and lose appetite after surgery or during illness. Therefore, PetNZC added a variety of vitamins and minerals and an appropriate amount of glucose and minerals to help pets maintain the necessary nutrients and energy intake.

2. What are our breakthroughs?

Many cats and dogs are lactose intolerant. Compared with milk powder with higher lactose content, goat milk powder has natural A2 protein and smaller fat globule molecules. Goat milk is more nutritious, easier to digest and absorb, and less likely to cause lactose intolerance in pets. Therefore, PetNZC uses goat milk powder. Goat milk is the most natural animal milk for pets. We also added colostrum. Colostrum contains precious immunoglobulins and growth factors, which can effectively improve pets' immunity.
